Roland-Garros, in English still widely called the French Open, is the second Grand Slam tournament of the year and the only one of the four played on clay: run by the French Tennis Federation at Stade Roland-Garros by the Porte d'Auteuil in western Paris, over two weeks from late May into early June.

It was established in 1891 and became a major in 1925; the stadium and the tournament are named after the French aviator Roland Garros. Clay lengthens the rallies, and with seven rounds of best-of-five sets for the men it is regarded as the most physically demanding of the four. Until 1975 it was the only major not played on grass.
