ATP Finals prize money: what an undefeated champion earns

The Nitto ATP Finals offered a record $15.5 million in total prize money in 2025, and an undefeated singles champion earned $5,071,000, the largest cheque in the event's history. The ATP has not yet published the prize money for the 2026 edition, which is scheduled for 15 to 22 November 2026 at the Inalpi Arena in Turin; as of 22 September 2026 the official points and prize money page still carries the tables labelled 2025. This page therefore shows the 2025 figures, in US dollars, and will be updated when the 2026 numbers are announced, which last year happened at the end of September.

How much does the ATP Finals champion earn?

It depends on how many matches he wins. Unlike a Grand Slam tournament, the Finals pay a participation fee plus a bonus for every match won, so two champions can take home different amounts. The ATP's 2025 announcement of 29 September 2025 lists the components; the same figures stand on the official page.

The undefeated champion's total is the sum of the parts: $331,000 for playing three group matches, three wins at $396,500 each, the semi-final bonus and the final bonus. A champion who lost one group match would earn $396,500 less. The participation fee is scaled by matches played: $165,500 for one match, $248,250 for two, $331,000 for three, which matters when a player withdraws mid-week and an alternate steps in. The alternate's $155,000 is paid for being on standby.

The same arithmetic sets the ceiling for the runner-up. A finalist who won all three group matches but lost the final leaves with $2,704,000: the fee, three group bonuses and the semi-final bonus. Two group wins are usually enough to reach the semi-finals, and the tiebreak rules can let a player through with one, so a runner-up with fewer group wins receives one or two fewer $396,500 bonuses. Every match from the semi-finals onwards is therefore worth more than a million dollars to the winner.

In 2024 Jannik Sinner had won the title without dropping a set and collected $4,881,100, according to the same announcement; the 2025 figure for an undefeated champion is 3.9 per cent higher. The $15.5 million total is small next to a Grand Slam fund such as the US Open's $108 million, but it is shared among eight singles players, eight doubles teams and the alternates rather than across draws of 128.

Doubles

The doubles teams are paid on the same structure, per team: a participation fee of $134,200 for three group matches, $96,600 for each round-robin win, $178,500 for the semi-final, $356,800 for the final, and $959,300 for an undefeated champion pair. Alternates receive $51,700.

Prize money and ranking points

At the Finals, ranking points are earned match by match on a fixed schedule rather than by the round reached. The United Cup also awards singles points per match, on a scale that depends on the stage and the opponent's ranking, as the tour guide explains. According to the ATP's points breakdown, each round-robin win is worth 200 points, the semi-final 400 and the final 500, so an undefeated champion earns 1,500, while a champion who lost one group match earns 1,300. That compares with 2,000 points for a Grand Slam title and 1,000 for a Masters 1000. In singles the Finals count as a 19th result on top of the 18 that make up a ranking. What the champion keeps

The cheque is gross. Italy's revenue agency states that fees paid to non-residents for work performed in Italy carry a final withholding tax of 30 per cent of the amount paid, according to its table of withholding rates; double-taxation treaties between Italy and the player's country of residence can change that. Coaching, travel and accommodation come out of the same gross figure, and no official source publishes what a typical player nets, so this page does not estimate it.

How it compares

An undefeated ATP Finals champion earned more in 2025 than the Wimbledon champion in 2026, whose cheque was £3.6 million, but less than the US Open champion's $5.5 million this year. The comparison is imperfect: the Finals champion plays five matches against top-eight opponents, the Grand Slam champion seven, and the currencies differ. This page does not convert them.
